Depression Counseling

Reconnect with movement, meaning, and hope.

Depression can make ordinary life feel unusually heavy. Motivation may disappear, relationships can feel distant, and activities that once mattered may no longer bring the same sense of interest or pleasure. Counseling offers a place to name what is happening, understand the factors that may be contributing, and take manageable steps toward change.

What you may be experiencing

  • Persistent sadness, numbness, or irritability
  • Loss of interest or enjoyment
  • Low motivation or difficulty completing daily tasks
  • Withdrawal from relationships
  • Changes in sleep, appetite, or energy
  • Hopelessness, guilt, or harsh self-criticism

How counseling may help

  • Understand patterns that maintain depression
  • Create achievable steps toward activity
  • Respond to self-critical thinking
  • Strengthen supportive relationships
  • Process grief, stress, or painful experiences
  • Reconnect with personal values and meaning

A thoughtful, individualized approach

Depending on your needs, counseling may draw from cognitive behavioral therapy, behavioral activation, mindfulness, relational work, and other approaches. We collaborate with you rather than assuming that one method fits everyone.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to feel motivated before counseling can help?

No. Low motivation is often part of depression. Counseling can begin with small, realistic actions rather than waiting for motivation to return first.

Can counseling work alongside medication?

Yes. Many clients use counseling alongside care from a physician or psychiatric provider. Your counselor can support communication with other providers when appropriate and authorized.

What if I am having thoughts of suicide?

The inquiry form is not monitored continuously. If you may act on thoughts of harming yourself, call 911, call or text 988, or go to the nearest emergency room.
